4-Days Tsavo Private Carnivore Tracking and Photographic Safari

An exclusive, expert-led tracking expedition based out of the luxurious Severin Safari Camp. Designed for wildlife photographers and enthusiasts who want to master the volcanic landscapes of Tsavo West and capture eye-level encounters with Africa’s premier apex predators. The endangered African wild dogs of Tsavo West offer one of the most exclusive and thrilling wildlife sightings in Kenya. Unlike the packs in roaming the open savannahs of the Maasai Mara, Tsavo West’s wild dogs have uniquely adapted to a rugged, semi-arid landscape shaped by ancient volcanic lava flows and dense acacia woodlands.

Your 4 days safari starts here.

Our expedition begins with a morning pick-up from Nairobi or Mombasa in our specialized photographic 4x4 Land Cruiser. Drive through Mtito Andei gate into Tsavo West National Park, arriving at the stunning, unfenced Severin Safari Camp. Check into your luxury tent and enjoy lunch overlooking the camp’s active waterhole, a frequent drinking spot for resident wildlife. At 3:30 PM, head out for your first dedicated predator patrol along the Rhino Valley circuit. We focus our tracking on the local pride of lions as they begin to stir for their evening hunt. Utilizing our vehicle's integrated swivel beanbag mounts, we position exclusively for dramatic, front-lit portraits against the backdrop of the Ngulia Hills during the golden hour. Accommodation: Severin Safari Camp Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Depart Severin Safari Camp at 5:30 AM with a packed bush breakfast to capture the apex predators at their most active hunting window. Today’s primary objective is locating the endangered African Wild Dogs (the Kamboyo Pack). Our expert tracking guides utilize localized monitoring data, fresh spoor, and alarm signals from area prey species to map the pack's hunting vectors through the dense acacia scrub. Upon locating the pack, our custom drop-side photo frames allow you to shoot at exact eye level with the painted wolves as they socialize and play. Mid-morning, we take a short drive to the nearby Mzima Springs. We walk the shaded paths to photograph hippos and crocodiles from the unique underwater viewing hide, focusing on capturing the play of light through the crystal-clear volcanic water. Accommodation: Severin Safari Camp Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
We kick off the day tracking elusive leopards along the riverine woodlands near Severin. This dense habitat is perfect cover for solitary cats. Our modified vehicle suspension ensures rock-steady stabilization when shooting with heavy 400mm+ telephoto lenses into the high canopy where leopards stash their kills. In the afternoon, we navigate the spectacular, stark landscapes of the Shetani Lava Flow, using the jagged black rock formations to create stark, high-contrast wildlife compositions. As the day wraps up, we drive up to Poacher's Lookout. Here, you can enjoy a premium sundowner while photographing sweeping, panoramic views of the Tsavo plains with Mount Kilimanjaro framing the horizon. Accommodation: Severin Safari Camp Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Our final morning safari targets the open savannah patches near the camp, capturing the early morning activity of plains game and eagles. We stop briefly at Roaring Rocks a magnificent rocky outcrop where the wind creates a low roar, offering incredible vistas and a perfect spot to review your captured digital frames with your guide for technical feedback. We return to Severin Safari Camp for a hearty late breakfast and to pack your gear. Bid farewell to the bush as we begin our comfortable drive back to Nairobi or Mombasa, timed perfectly for your onward international flight connections or coastal extensions. No Accommodation Meals: Breakfast and Lunch enroute
